Launch of the Birmingham New Communities NetworkCause for Concern

The Cause for Concern campaign worked with marginalised groups – women, young people, migrants and refugees to give them a collective voice to influence government and council policies, local and national authorities, and to lobby for change.

The campaign raised awareness of politicians, policy and decision makers about issues related to employment of ethnic minorities – many organisations in Birmingham now have policies in place to recruit people from ethnic minorities, and to provide training and placements for these people, to facilitate their access to jobs.

We bring people together through networks to exchange experience and to debate issues of common interest.

We also actively participate in other groups such as:

  • Building Bridges – a forum that aims to provide support to new arrivals with health service backgrounds or qualifications so they can access training, education and jobs in the health sector
  • Black workers forum of the TUC
  • BME subgroup in the health sector
  • Northfield Consituency Strategy Partnership
